Polyurethane insulation board
Polyurethane Insulation Board is a new type of highly efficient insulation building material made by combining rigid polyurethane foam as the core insulation material with different surface layers (such as color steel plates, aluminum foil, cement boards, etc.). Its core advantages lie in its extremely low thermal conductivity and excellent thermal insulation performance. At the same time, it also features light weight, high strength, water resistance and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the fields of building exterior walls, roofs, cold storage, pipeline insulation and industrial equipment insulation, and is one of the core materials for modern energy-saving buildings and industrial insulation.
Extremely strong thermal insulation performance (core advantage)
The thermal conductivity of rigid polyurethane foam is extremely low, typically ranging from 0.018 to 0.025 W/(m·K), which is much lower than that of traditional insulation materials (such as polystyrene board EPS at 0.033 to 0.038 W/(m·K) and rock wool board at 0.040 to 0.048 W/(m·K)). This means:
Under the same insulation effect, the thickness of polyurethane insulation boards is only 1/2 to 2/3 of that of polystyrene boards (for example, to achieve the same heat insulation effect, 50mm thick polyurethane boards are needed, but 80-100mm thick polystyrene boards are required), which can save building space (especially suitable for scenarios where there are restrictions on floor height and wall thickness).Under the same thickness, polyurethane boards have a higher insulation efficiency and can significantly reduce building energy consumption. For instance, when polyurethane insulation boards are used on the exterior walls of civil buildings, heating energy consumption can be reduced by 30% to 50% in winter and air conditioning load in summer.
Excellent water resistance and sealing performance
Polyurethane rigid foam itself has a closed-cell structure (closed-cell rate ≥90%), making it difficult for water to penetrate. Meanwhile, the composite surface layer (such as color steel plate, aluminum foil) has excellent water resistance. When the entire board is spliced, a "seamless connection" can be achieved through special sealant, avoiding the problem of reduced insulation performance of traditional insulation materials (such as rock wool, glass wool) due to "water absorption and moisture absorption". Therefore, polyurethane insulation boards are often used in "insulation + waterproofing integrated" scenarios, such as roof insulation and exterior walls of cold storage (cold storage needs to meet both low-temperature insulation and moisture-proof requirements simultaneously).
Lightweight and high strength, convenient for construction
Lightweight: The volume density of polyurethane insulation boards is typically 30-50 kg/m³, which is much lighter than that of traditional building materials (such as brick walls, which are about 1800 kg/m³). This can reduce the load-bearing pressure on the main structure of buildings and is particularly suitable for energy-saving renovations of existing buildings (without the need for additional reinforcement of the main structure).
High strength: Despite its light weight, the compressive strength of polyurethane rigid foam can reach 0.3-1.0 MPa, and its flexural strength can reach 0.15-0.5 MPa. It can withstand certain mechanical impacts (such as bumps during construction) and is not easily damaged.
Fast construction: The panels are mostly prefabricated in factories of standard sizes (common width 1200mm, length customizable 2000-6000mm). On-site, only cutting, splicing and fixation (using rivets or adhesives) are required. The daily construction area can reach 100-200 square meters, which is much faster than on-site spraying of insulation materials.
Good flame retardancy and safety
Early polyurethane insulation boards had the problem of being "flammable", but currently, mainstream products have met national fire protection standards by adding flame retardants (such as brominated and phosphorus-based flame retardants).
Standard model: Oxygen index ≥26, reaching "difficult-to-burn B1 grade", suitable for most civil buildings (such as residences, office buildings);
High-end model: Oxygen index ≥32, reaching "non-combustible A Grade" (requires a composite fireproof surface layer, such as magnesium oxide board), suitable for scenarios with high fire protection requirements (such as hospitals, schools, underground buildings).
Meanwhile, when polyurethane rigid foam burns, it does not produce toxic or harmful gases (such as formaldehyde and cyanide), and its safety is superior to that of some traditional organic insulation materials.
Resistant to aging and long service life
Polyurethane rigid foam has strong chemical stability, is resistant to ultraviolet rays and acid and alkali corrosion (can withstand acid and alkali environments with pH values ranging from 3 to 11), and its performance deteriorates slowly when exposed to outdoor or humid environments for a long time. Under normal usage conditions, its service life can reach 25 to 30 years (the lifespan of traditional polystyrene boards is about 15 to 20 years), reducing the cost of later maintenance and replacement.
